What's in the Pond?

   Several studies have been conducted over the years. They include:

• Schedule and Program for Proposed 2011 Sonar and Reward Herbicide Treatment of Foster’s Pond, February 22, 2011 (prepared by Aquatic Control Technology, Inc., for the Foster's Pond Corporation). Summarizes annual surveys and treatments from 2004 to 2010, including two inspections in 2010.

• 2009 Foster’s Pond Aquatic Vegetation Survey and Water Quality Monitoring Report, October 15, 2009 (prepared by Geosyntec Consultants for the Foster's Pond Corporation. A comprehensive survey utilizing the same data points as the 2004 and 2008 surveys (below).

• 2008 Aquatic Plant Survey and Water Quality Monitoring at Foster’s Pond, November 24, 2008 (prepared by Aquatic Control Technology, Inc., for the Foster's Pond Corporation). A comprehensive survey utilizing the same data points as the 2004 survey (below).

• 2007 Year-End Report for Herbicide Treatment of Foster’s Pond, December 5, 2007 (prepared by Aquatic Control Technology, Inc., for the Foster's Pond Corporation).

• 2006 Year-End Report for Herbicide Treatment of Dredged Basin off of Glenwood Road, November 29, 2006 (prepared by Aquatic Control Technology, Inc., for the Foster's Pond Corporation).

• 2005 Project Completion Report/Aquatic Management Program, December 28, 2005 (prepared by Aquatic Control Technology, Inc., for the Foster's Pond Corporation).

• Aquatic Plant Survey and Development of a Nuisance Aquatic Plant Management Plan, October, 2004 (prepared by Aquatic Control Technology, Inc., for the Foster's Pond Corporation).  A comprehensive inventory of vegetation in the Pond, with maps and pictures.

• Report by the Condition of the Pond Committee, 1981 Prepared by Foster’s Pond Corporation, and discusses various control strategies.

• Total Maximum Daily Loads of Bacteria for the Shawsheen River Basin, August, 2002 (64-page study performed for the State, contains some readings from the Pond)

• Foster's Pond Bathymetry Map, 2001 (by Pond resident David Adilman and a colleague).  Note that the deepest point in the Pond is 13 feet.  Adjacent contour lines depict a depth change of 1 foot.
